At the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington (PVNC) Catholic District School Board, we are committed to building and sustaining a faith-filled, inclusive and equitable working and learning environment for all learners and staff.
The connection between learners and staff is critical to our mission. It is this relationship that cultivates the culture of equity and belongingness we are striving to achieve. To this end, PVNC Catholic wants to get a better understanding of who our staff are and what we can do to support them.
Staff Census
About the Staff Census
To support the Thrive and Connect Pillars of the Board’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan, we are set to launch a comprehensive Staff Census. This work is informed by PVNC Catholic’s Equity Action Plan and is the Board’s second workforce survey, which asks staff questions about barriers they may have experienced in the workplace and that collects identity-based data directly from our employees.
Recognizing our shared responsibility to achieve equity, this feedback forum demonstrates our commitment to collaborative decision-making and affords staff the opportunity to share perceptions of their learning and working environments. The analysis of this shared information will offer PVNC Catholic a more in depth understanding of the structural inequities and biases that exist, and affirm the need for continued system change and transformation to ensure staff who have been marginalized and underserved have access to the equitable employment opportunities and safety they are entitled to under the Education Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. E.2, Employment Equity Act, 1993, S.O. 1993, c. 35 and other relevant legislation.
What are our goals?
- Understand and support the diversity of employees
- Identify and eliminate barriers to inclusion and belonging
- Inform system policies, procedures and programs
- Support recruitment, promotional practices and retention
- Guide professional development, training and succession planning, and
- Strive for a workforce that reflects our student population
Your voluntary participation in the Staff Census is important to us in order to better learn about and serve the PVNC Catholic community. The higher the completion rate, the more reliable the information will be to help us identify and remove systemic barriers and reach the goals listed above.
The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete and is entirely voluntary. You may choose to skip questions if you do not wish to provide answers.
PVNC Catholic respects the privacy of our staff. Data will be collected in a secure manner as directed by applicable privacy legislation and best practices.
PVNC Catholic is firmly committed to maintaining the confidentiality of individual respondents' data obtained through the Staff Census. Reports will never single out or identify an individual. Data will only be reported in a summarized way to highlight our community’s needs. Individual responses or data potentially traceable to an individual will not be shared for any purpose.
